A Poem for My Next Door Neighbor:
When a man adores his car it’s a wonderful thing
She’ll take you far as long as you’re her King
But never has a deeper passion been seen,
Than the love my neighbor has for his machine
His cherished automobile is cleaned everyday
You’re blinded by the silver glare as he peels away
At 6am
In his suit before work he washes the exterior
In his sweats after dinner he vacuums the interior
He protects her at night by parking in the driveway
He keeps her cool under the trees in the street all day
When it rains he stares, longing
For the moment he can again be inside his darling
No woman has a chance to become his wife
As long as his 2002 Chevy Impala remains in his life
Christmas Snow
