Episode by Episode - Star Trek: Enterprise

Season 1

Episode 25 Two Days and Two Nights

The crew of the Enterprise travel to the planet Risa for shore leave.  The entire crew drew lots to decide who gets to take the leave and magically the entire starring cast won.  This is really just a low budget filler episode.  The show is trying to save their money to spend on a big season finale in the next episode.   So it’s lots of talking and odd attempts at comedic segments.  We get a nice callback to when Dean Stockwell was on the show but that’s the last we hear of him.  There’s reference to the shows overall story arc but none of it really progresses that Temporal Cold War story.

Season 1

Episode 24 Desert Crossing

The Enterprise somehow makes friends with Zobral who leads a bunch of rebels or maybe they’re terrorists.  He tries to recruit them to their cause.  Archer debates joining the fight.  Ultimately decides not to since their mission is exploration.  A lot of first season episodes focus on the lack of a prime directive which Enterprise seems to enforce more stringently than any of the other Star Trek series.

Season 1

Episode 22 Vox Sola

A bunch of aliens called the Kreetassans get insulted because humans eat in public.  Somehow these aliens never met another species that did this.

Then some weird jellyfish hops from the Kreetassans ship to the Enterprise and takes a bunch of main characters hostage.

Ensign Mayweather is the last remaining main character which by default forces us to watch him save the day with his terrible acting.  He makes peace with the Kreetassans then finds the planet to return the jellyfish alien too.

This episode is all sorts of annoying.  The horror aspect, the lame alien, the jerk aliens getting insulted over people eating, and then we have Anthony Montgomery who seriously needs acting lessons.

Season 1

Episode 21 Detained

Scott Bakula as Captain Jonathan Archer is reunited with Dean Stockwell playing Colonel Grat.  Fans of Quantum Leap loved Bakula and Stockwell playing best friends Sam and Al trying to fix time.  Seeing them reunited in this episode is bittersweet.  They’re enemies in this episode which pretty much means fans won’t get to see them buddy up to save the day in future episodes.
