Season 2

Episode 33 The Seventh

T’Pol is trying to settle an old grudge from some dude she tried to arrest years ago.  There is some doubt if he’s a douche-bag but in the end it’s determined he is a douche–bag.  T’Pol debates murdering him but with the help of Captain Archer ultimately decides not to. It seemed Season 2 ran out of steam.  Their strongest episodes behind them.  Marauders was a tired story trope, The Seventh is another tired TV trope.

With a 26 episode season, it can be difficult to make every week’s episode shine.  Enterprise had batted four episodes in a row out of the park until The Seventh and Marauders.

Season 2

Episode 32 Marauders

Enterprise tries to get some sci-fi resource from a group of the people who are the sci-fi equivalent of oil drillers or farmers or something.  The simple folk are being harassed by a group of Klingons and all their supplies stolen. Enterprise teaches the colony how to defend themselves.  They fight and win out in the end.  A rather tired story that has been told a million times in films like The Three Amigos, The Magnificent Seven, every single episode of the A-Team.

Season 2

Episode 31 A Night in Sickbay

Some fans hate this episode but it’s actually really good.  You get to see Archer shine over the love of his dog, you get great insight into Dr Phlox, and everyone loves the beagle Porthos.  All the quirkiness that makes Phlox a great physician also makes him a bit too much in a 24-hour period.  They also bring back the super sensitive Kreetassans which become insulted when Archer’s dog urinates on a tree.  Their anger in this instance actually makes more sense.  It’s not everyday an alien species visits your planet and they have their dog pee on your tree.  Archer's apology ceremony at the end is rather brilliant, his minor misstep, the Kreetassans willingness to allow for the correction, speaks wonders about Roddenbury’s vision of peaceful exploration.

Season 2

Episode 30 Dead Stop

It looked like Season 2 was going strong with solid back to back fun episodes.  Dead Stop is no exception.  The crew needs to perform repairs after getting heavily damaged in the prior episode Minefield.  They discover a random automated repair station which requires them to trade supplies for repairs.  Everything is working well until they discover the station also kidnaps some of the crew to sustain itself.  Enterprise fights back, saves their crew, and basically get’s the repairs for free.  The nice twist at the end is the repair depot which should be destroyed, starts automatically rebuilding itself.
